Frequently asked questions.

FAQs

Do you offer virtual or in person therapy?

I currently offer virtual therapy sessions through a private, HIPAA-compliant health records and video platform. This ensures your sessions remain secure and confidential while allowing you to attend therapy from the comfort of your own space.

Where are you licensed to practice?

I am licensed to provide therapy to clients who are physically located in New York State at the time of our sessions. Even though sessions are held virtually, you must reside in and be located in New York during our appointments.

What are your rates and how do you accept payment ?

My fee is $180 for a 50-minute individual session, and $200 for a 60-minute couples or family session,

Payment is accepted via credit or debit card through the secure client portal on my HIPAA-compliant health records platform.

While I do not accept insurance directly, you may be eligible for reimbursement if your plan includes out-of-network benefits. Please review the insurance information below and contact your provider to better understand your coverage.

I also offer a sliding scale based on an anti-oppressive rate structure for clients experiencing financial hardship. Please email for more information about availability.

How frequently will we meet?

I typically offer weekly therapy sessions and will work with you to find a consistent time that fits your schedule.

Meeting weekly allows us to build a strong therapeutic relationship, develop momentum in the work, and create meaningful progress. As therapy continues, we can revisit the frequency and adjust as appropriate to your needs.

What can I expect in our phone consultation and intake session?

The phone consultation is a brief opportunity for us to connect, discuss what brings you to therapy, explore your goals, and address any questions you may have about the process.

During our first intake session, we will gather important background information and further explore your reasons for seeking therapy. Because the therapeutic relationship is foundational to the work, the intake process may take a few sessions as we determine whether we are a good fit for one another.

Are you in-network with any insurance providers?

I do not accept insurance directly. However, many insurance plans offer reimbursement for out-of-network mental health services.

If you are seeking reimbursement, I can provide a monthly superbill for you to submit to your insurance provider.

Before beginning therapy, you may wish to ask your insurance company:

  • Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?

  • What is my deductible, and has it been met?

  • What is my co-insurance rate?

  • How many sessions per year are covered?

  • What is the reimbursement amount per session?

  • Is a referral from my primary care physician required?

Please note that payment is due at the time of service. If you have out-of-network benefits, your insurance company will reimburse you directly.

Are there benefits to paying out-of-pocket?

Paying out-of-pocket offers increased privacy, flexibility, and independence in your care.

Insurance companies typically require a mental health diagnosis, may review treatment records, and often place limits on the number of sessions covered. They may also restrict you to in-network providers, which can limit your options when seeking the right therapeutic fit.

For some clients, paying privately allows for greater autonomy in treatment decisions and the therapeutic process. If you have questions about whether this approach is right for you, I’m happy to discuss it further.

What is your cancellation policy?

I require at least 48 hours’ notice for cancellations or rescheduling. Sessions canceled with less than 48 hours’ notice, missed sessions, or arrivals more than 15 minutes late will be charged the full session fee. This policy allows me to offer that time to other clients in need and maintain consistency in care.

How do I get started?

You can begin by reaching out through my contact form or via email. From there, we will schedule a brief phone consultation to explore what brings you to therapy, determine if we’re a good fit, and discuss next steps.

How long does therapy last?

The length of therapy varies depending on your goals and needs. Some clients seek short-term support around a specific issue, while others engage in longer-term work for deeper exploration and growth. We will regularly check in about your progress and adjust the pace of our work as needed.

What if we’re not a good fit?

Finding the right therapeutic fit is important. If at any point it feels like we are not the right fit, I am happy to provide referrals to other therapists who may better meet your needs.
